Perfect

Today's reading: Psalm 19:7-11

Rather than starting a new book on a Friday, I thought we would take a day to look at a favorite passage of mine from the Psalms.

With all that's going on in our world right now, my heart has been feeling heavy, so I turned to Psalm 19:7-11 this morning. These verses are favorites of mine because of what they so plainly tell us about God and His Word. I particularly like verse 7, and I certainly experienced it as I worked my way through this passage.

"The law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul."

What stood out to you most from these verses, and why? How would you describe what you experience when you take in and consider God's Word? Tami

Tami,

I like what Matthew Henry's commentary said, the law of God satisfy and no fear of excess.
Also I like what another commentary that I read said the the word law could be described as teaching, doctrine, instructs, and enlightening.

What stood out to me is "reviving the soul". I know when I accepted Christ as my Savior, He forgave my sins, but He did more! He RESTORED by sinful nature with what God intended in the first place when He created man! Now, that does not mean that I cannot sin,but the desire to sin is replaced with desiring fellowship with Christ far more. This reviving is an on-going process until I get to Heaven and have a glorified body!!
When I read God's Word especially when I intentionally ask Him to reveal to me what He wants to teach me today, I NEVER come away empty or disappointed.

In closing, all the positive words about God and His law is what most ( all) people want when they buy groceries, (pure, clean, perfect and true) but why don't they want that same for their souls?
