God's Useful Word

| | Comments (1)

Today's reading: 2 Timothy 3:16-17 (NLT)

2 Timothy 3:16-17 is a foundational passage for me. I frequently read it because it reminds me of the precious and valuable gift that God's Word is to us. It also reinforces how important it is to be intentional about filling our minds with God's true and perfect thoughts.

"All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work" (2 Timothy 3:16-17 NLT).

Do you view the Bible as a gift from God to you? How have you experienced what Paul sets out in this passage with regard to your own spiritual journey—realizing what's true and what's wrong from spending time in God's Word, and being motivated and equipped to do good things for God through engaging scripture? Tami,
I was so blessed by your opening paragraph and I was struck by your use of the word " gift".

And then you have included the word gift again in your question.
Although I have considered God's Word as valuable and precious, but
gift? Yes, it is a very precious, priceless gift to have God's Word.
Many have lost their lives owning this forbidden book and many we are indebted to who made God's word available for the average person in their language.
Yes, I would say yes indeed!
This morning as I awoke,I came to your blog and knew that a family member needs this to encourage her as she is overwhelmed with yet another thing to fill her mind being a home school teacher/mom who already puts in more than the 40-hour work schedule.

This very verse is so valuable right now for her and yes it is have been a source to direct me in many of my decisions as a Christian.

I love the Bible and now I know it is more than precious and valuable it is a gift!

Thanks Tami for bringing this to my attention now and this morning!
