Pressing On

Today's reading: Genesis 35:16-29

The second half of Genesis 35 records several sorrowful and difficult times for Jacob. Rachel, who Jacob loved with all his heart, dies giving birth to Benjamin, Reuben commits adultery with Bilhah, and lastly, Isaac passes away and Jacob and Esau attend to his burial. This passage serves as a good reminder that pain, hurt, sorrow, death, and grief are inescapable parts of life, but with God as our foundation, we can endure and continue onward.

When and how has God sustained you through a time of great pain, loss, or grief? How can or how have you used your experiences in these areas to come alongside and help another person or to share the Gospel with someone who doesn't yet have a relationship with God? Tami

A very timely subject Tami.

I still miss my husband, but I am sustained by knowing the Lord is with me through it all, the promise of seeing him and the Lord on Christ Second Coming. Even though I am sad from his absences, I am also thankful to the Lord for given me my husband for the years we had together.

I have had opportunity to share with an Chinese exchange student who lives with my niece and her husband who was seeking the Lord, but afraid to yield to Him in 2018,but I mentioned that I do miss my husband, but I put my hope and trust in God who promised to return and to reunite us to our loved ones. When talking to one of my sisters at the families' Christmas party, the Chinese student told her how impressed she was that I had a great hope to see my husband again. My niece and her have been talking about how to know that you are hearing from God and other spiritual question during 2018 and in the latter part of 2019 I am thrilled to say that she is now a believer too. Praise the Lord.

I have had many opportunities to express sincere sympathy for others who have lost their mates too.

God,family, friends and church family help us all along these difficult times. God's Word helps us very much too.

Tami, I just prayed for any of the readers who have pain, great loss or grief that God would be their strength and comfort.
