Family Reunion

Today's reading: Genesis 33:1-20

The account of Jacob and Esau's reunion is one of my favorites. Every time I read it, my heart is moved by the reconciling of two brothers who have been separated and at odds with each other for many, many years. This story is rich with lessons about and examples of repentance, humility, forgiveness, and reconciliation. But what stood out most prominently to me today was God's goodness to both Jacob and Esau as well as His faithfulness to heal and restore this family in spite of their ugly and painful past.

What's one thing that you learned or saw about reconciliation from this account? What about the importance of family? How would you describe the condition of your family relationships (immediate and extended)? Would you ask God to help you restore relationships where healing and restoration are needed? Tami

Although we do see examples of repentance, humility and forgiveness, and reconciliation between the two brothers, I see that Esau shows it more.
Why do I say that look at what Esau is doing for Jacob providing a safe journey to Bethel, but I am wondering if Jacob is trying to deceive his brother again saying that he needs to go slower which makes sense, but we see Jacob goes a different way....on purpose and delays his journey to Bethel.

It is a mixed and in some ways I would say it is improving.

3. Would you ask God to help you restore relationships where healing and restoration are needed?

Tami, that is a very good idea, although I have been praying in a general way, your questions shows how I must pray more specifically to RESTORE and HEAL

Thanks for a very helpful study today,
God bless you for your service for the King!
