Tests

Today's reading: 1 Peter 1:3-12

On pretty much any given week, most of us encounter difficulty in some area of our life--from something minor and isolated to something that's a major, all-consuming circumstance. Given that difficulties are going to come, we need to be prepared so we can react and ultimately respond to the trials we encounter in a manner that is pleasing to God and helps us be a positive witness to those around us.

But responding at our best to difficulties can be challenging. Even after years of being a Christ follower, I have to fight against letting my gut--my human reactions--take over when a trial enters my life. So Peter pointing out how trials "test the genuineness" of our faith was a helpful reminder today to be prepared and look at these testing circumstances as an opportunity to grow spiritually. That way, when the test arrives (and it will), my first reaction will be to take it to God and ask Him to walk with and guide me through whatever the situation.

When you encounter difficulty and trials, are you quick to seek God through prayer? Do you ask God to help you trust Him and view the trials as a growing and/or learning opportunity? How does thinking about trials as being "a testing of the genuineness of your faith" help you stand strong and stay the course with God? Tami

Tami, As I think of my tastings in the past I saw them helping me to honor the Lord in not yielding to temptation.a
Being a good testimony to the Lord. Yes, I asked the Lord in my daily prayer to let my words and meditations of my heart and my thoughts please Him. Now,I am having difficulty seeing JOY or rejoicing in my present testing. Saying makes me feel guilty of being ungrateful to the what He has already done for me and what He has in stored in Heaven. Lord,I need Your help during my trials knowing I am being purified so I grow and that I will sanctified for His honor and glory. It will worth all when we see Jesus!
