Right Kind of Rich

| | Comments (1)

Today's reading: James 5:1-6; 1 Timothy 6:9-10

The Bible addresses the topic of money--a BUNCH. It gives instructions, warnings, cautions and examples about using money. And at first glance, it seems like money is a problem. But money itself really isn't the problem. The problem is us, when we choose to focus on, desire and seek after money instead of focusing on, desiring and seeking after God. Thus James's stern words against loving and pursuing money and possessions in James 5:1-6. It's God's desire for us to be rich toward Him (in our hearts and through our actions) rather than being rich according to the world's standards (having money and possessions).

Do you find it difficult to keep your focus on God in a world that is obsessed with wealth and possessions? What helps you keep a proper perspective about the money and things you own? How are you using (or how can you use) what money and possessions God has given you to build up treasure in heaven? Tami

Thanks for the warning, Tami
I have never been someone who had a lot of money to even be tempted by it. There are so many need in the world and yes at times I wish that I could give a lot. But God wants me to be faithful with the monies that He allows us to have. I must be careful not to waste it.
These verses warn us the danger of misusing money and the desire to have more.
