Foot Washing

| | Comments (0)

Today's reading: John 13:1-35

After Jesus completes the foot washing of His twelve closest disciples (His ministry team), he talks with them about His actions. He explains that He wants them to take note of and follow His example of lovingly serving others, regardless of status or position. Jesus then addresses His impending betrayal, which prompts the departure of Judas. Turning back to the eleven remaining disciples, Jesus issues the important charge to love one another.

"A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another" (vs. 34-35).

Would you say that you are a "foot washer"? In other words, is it your goal to and are you actively loving people--the least to the greatest--through acts of service? What's one lesson that stood out to you from Jesus's example in this passage, and why? Tami
