Light of Life

Today's reading: John 8:12-30

The Jewish leaders don't know what to think about Jesus or how to deal with Him. They're threatened by His power and the confidence and authority with which He teaches the Scriptures. They despise Jesus and want Him out of the picture. So as Jesus is teaching in the temple and makes the statement that He is the light of the world and offers the light of life (vs. 12), they launch a verbal assault on Him in an attempt to discredit Him. However, Jesus responds in His typical manner--He remains calm and focused as He delivers powerful spiritual truth.

"Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, 'I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life...' He said to them, 'You are from below; I am from above. You are of this world; I am not of this world. I told you that you would die in your sins, for unless you believe that I am he you will die in your sins'" (vs. 12 and 23-24).

What does Jesus being "the light of the world" mean to you personally? What words would you use to explain or describe to someone how choosing to follow Jesus has changed your life from walking in darkness to living in the light? Tami

Tami, again you have asked some good thought-provoking questions.
1- What does Jesus being "the light of the world" mean to you personally? It sure makes me thankful for His Light.Without Him I would be in darkness, confusion, depressed and hopelessness!
David says in the Psalms that is delight is in the Lord!
The Light that Jesus sheds on me not only reveals my sins, forgives me when I confess my sins to Him, guides my path, helps me to understand His Word.
As long as I am walking in the light, trusting Him to guide my steps as I seek to follow Him I will never be in darkness .Blessed assurance.
What words would you use to explain or describe to someone how choosing to follow Jesus has changed your life from walking in darkness to living in the light?
A flashlight or candle come to mind. Walking in darkness can be very dangerous. Light can reveal what we don't want to see. but need to see to get well and to grow in the Lord. Light helps plants grow, just like the light helps usto grow more in knowing Who Jesus is!
When we do not have to "clean up our act" before we come to Jesus. He not only shows us our sins, He gives us hope that He forgives us and helps us to live a life pleasing to Him if we surrender our will to His.
I have never been sorry that I trust the Light of God's love to make life worth living when life become tough.

Men love darkness because their needs are evil. That explains why they are offend by Jesus Who is the Light of the world and HE loves the world.

Jesus the Light of the world is a gift that all can enjoy if they so choose to follow Him out of their darkness, we have the honor to know Him more and more and love Him and desire to please Him.

Thank You, Lord for Your Light in the World that is full of darkness and will continue until You come again!!
