Today's reading: 1 Samuel 30:16-31, Proverbs 11:24-25, Psalm 112:5

David and his men overtake and defeat the Amalekites, rescuing all captives and recovering all lost property, plus additional flocks and herds. The people are ecstatic and openly proclaim, "This is David's spoil" (vs. 20). But David doesn't see it that way. He recognizes that everything they recovered and received was given by God. So when the men who fought with him respond selfishly by wanting to penalize the men who had remained behind, David will have none of it. He declares that the entire spoil is to be shared among those who kept watch and those who went with him to fight. David demonstrates God's love to the people by his care for them and his generousity with what God had given.

"One gives freely, yet grows all the richer; another withholds what he should give, and only suffers want. Whoever brings blessing will be enriched, and one who waters will himself be watered" (Proverbs 11:24-25).

"It is well with the man who deals generously and lends; who conducts his affairs with justice" (Psalm 112:5).

What has the Lord given you? On a scale of 1-10, how generous would you say you are toward others with your possessions and money? Why is having a generous heart and mindset important? Tami

Tami,Great lesson!

God is so generous and He gave/gives me (us) the BEST!
I (We) should be giving Him our BEST!

What has the Lord given me?

Eternal life,
gifts and provision abundantly all because of God's generous love, grace, forgiveness, fellowship,peace/joy in my heart, and much more!!

Sorry I have to say my scale of 1-10 is always fluctuating.
I believe, the Lord wants me to give myself ALL to Him so He can use me at any time, all the time to be a giver!

English Standard Version
And Samuel said, “Has the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to listen than the fat of ram.

When I desire to obey the Lord,I will be a cheerful giver!
A obedient believer is a joyful giver!!
You cannot out give the Lord
