Today's reading: Proverbs 22:1

"A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches, and favor is better than silver or gold" (Proverbs 22:1).

This week, we've been considering verses from Proverbs that focus on and address wealth, riches and money. I selected Proverbs 22:1 as our final verse in this area because of its positive message that nothing we possess is more valuable than having godly character.

How much thought do you give to your character? Is having godly character something you highly value? What are people experiencing and observing when they interact with you? What does having a "good name" mean for you personally? Tami

Since I have become a Christian we have been told that the only Bible the world reads is us. The reminder is good for me to be intentional in my relationship with everyone especially with the members of my family whom I am not as careful and thoughtful to show my true name in Christ.

I sure hope that people whom I am with will not be shocked that I am a follower of Jesus.
What it means to me personally to have a "good name" is very important because I want to have a good witness for the Lord and glorify His Name.
In the past I would quote this verse every day before going to work after an employee said, " I was watching you how patient you were when helping this customer."
"Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer."Psa.19:14

"Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:" Phil 2:9

Tami, this has been a great study from the Bible. Thank you!
