Honor Focused

Today's reading: Philippians 4:8

We started out last week looking at Philippians 4:8 and Paul's charge to take our minds and thoughts captive (think on these things). We then spent Tuesday through Friday specifically looking at verses having to do with honor. So before we move on to verses that will help us think on "whatever is just" (Phil. 4:8), let's take today to review and consider what we learned or noticed about honor last week.

What stood out to most about being honorable or having honor from the verses we studied last week, and why? How did repeatedly focusing on what God says about honor, impact your thoughts, actions, words? Tami

What is honorable? What elevates Christ in our lives is what I believe to be the definition of honorable. It is our thinking, our action, our worship. This is how we are honoring to God. One key aspect is humility because it is only in our understanding that we are in need of God’s eternal wisdom, and less of our own knowledge, that we truly bring honor to who Christ is and what he has done for us.

Prov21:21 "whoever pursues righteousness and kindness will find ...honor"
Prov.22:4 "The reward for humility and fear of the Lord is ...honor

Prov.26:1 "...honor is not fitting for a fool."

These three verses in this study are talking about honor.

As followers of Jesus who seek His word and are seeking righteousness, kindness, humbleness, and fear of the Lord are
more fit for honor than a fool.

Putting these verses together helped me to see who has honor. Those who have honor knows where honor comes from the Lord and He is due all honor.

Phil. 4:8 reminds us where our thoughts should be.
