Clean and Pure

Today's reading: Psalm 24:1-10

The importance of living rightly before God (having clean hands and a pure heart) stood out strongly to me as I took in Psalm 24.

"Who shall ascend the hill of the LORD? And who shall stand in his holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not lift up his soul to what is false and does not swear deceitfully. He will receive blessing from the LORD and righteousness from the God of his salvation" (vs. 3-5).

How would explain having clean hands and a pure heart to someone who doesn't yet have a relationship with God or is a new believer in Christ? What measures do you take to get and then maintain clean hands before God? Tami

I would try to explain how important to have a daily reading from God's Word and to pray for repentance, knowledge for guiding us and to confess sins.
I need to purposely to read God's Word and listen to the Holy Spirit to see if my hands are clean and if they are not what is there that I need to confess to maintain a clean hands before Him.

We are washed clean by the blood of the lamb to have clean hands; and our desired pure heart comes when God in Christ purifies us. He does the work. When we have clean hands and a pure heart, we will keep examining ourselves to see that we are continuing in the Lord, and ever thankful for His gift!
