But God

Today's reading: Ephesians 2:1-10

Ephesians 2:1-10 is arguably one of the most well-known and often used passages to present and explain salvation. The portion of this passage that we see quoted most frequently is found in verses 8-9, and what a powerful message those two verses deliver. But as I read Ephesians 2:1-10 today, my eyes kept coming back to verses 4-5 because of the descriptive view they provide of God and His plan of salvation.

"But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ--by grace you have been saved..."

What stood out most to you about God from this passage and why? What does this passage reveal about our human nature, our need for God and our purpose on earth? Tami

1. What stood out most to you about God from this passage and why?

"immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us" vs. 7

Why? I cannot explain it, but it shows God loves us so much every description of God is overwhelming to me as a rotten-no-good sinner but who is saved by His rich grace and kindness towards me who believes Him.

What does this passage reveal about our human nature,
An extreme opposite of God's grace and kindness.
"dead" vs.1 "follower of the prince of the air (Satan)vs.2 "sons of disobedience" vs2 " our nature the children of wrath" in vs. 3 " lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body[a] and the mind,

Our need for God,

We need Him because He is the ONLY one who can get us out of our mess as sinners.

Our purpose on earth? "walk in good works for which God has created.
Note verse one said " you once walked, following the course of this world"( following Satan) Now we accepted the gift of grace by faith we walk following Christ!

Familiar verses with a fresh new meaning for me today!
