Greatest Work

Today's reading: 1 Corinthians 1:18-31

As we finish out 1 Corinthians 1, Paul turns our attention to God's wisdom and power, and highlights how God's thinking and ways are so unlike ours. He isn't focused on or assigning value to us based on our outward appearance, our financial status, our intelligence or the things we've accomplished in the world. Instead, it pleases Him to use all people, and especially those that the world would label as weak, low and of little value, to do His greatest work. Thank you, God, for loving and using us for Your purposes exactly as we are!!

What did this passage reveal to you about God? What encouragement do you draw from the fact that God excels at using ordinary people to do His greatest work? Tami

God has made things so simple that we make it much more. For example, salvation, we only need to ask for forgiveness and we are His. But we make so much more out of this: instead of asking for forgiveness we must do enough good things to out weight the bad and we are forgiven and will go to heaven. The scripture says, "whoever calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." Just asking for forgiveness. "Repent" turn from you sin and then "be baptized." God wants us not what we do. In my life personally, one can never do enough to make others love and care about them, but if you build a relationship with someone they don't expect you to do for them but to spend time with them. In other words you can't buy love but it is just given. Same with God you can't buy your salvation, but you must have a relationship with God. So simple, but we make it out to be something so big that we can't do it.
