Trustworthy and True

Today's reading: 2 Peter 1:16-21

God and His Word are trustworthy and true! That's the message that came across loud and clear as I took in 2 Peter 1:16-21. I love how Peter makes sure we know that what he and the apostles are teaching and conveying is the result of being with Jesus while He was on earth ("but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty..." vs. 12), and that every part of God's Word--every phrase, sentence, chapter, Book--is from God. "For no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit" (vs. 21).

What does knowing that Peter was an eyewitness to Jesus' teaching, miracles, death and resurrection reveal about the Gospel message? How does knowing that every word of the Bible is "from God" impact your mindset, approach to and confidence in God's Word? Tami

Being that the Bible is divinely inspired, it is authoritative, and is worthy of our trust.

Having eye witness accounts is powerful. Our faith may be in things not seen, but it is grounded in history, brought to us by the eye witness accounts of trustworthy people. That's a firm foundation that I can trust!
