Redeemed and Adopted

Today's reading: Galatians 4:1-7

As we move into Galatians 4, Paul continues to pound home the message that we are no longer under the Law because of what Jesus did for us--coming to earth, living a perfect and sinless life, dying on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins. In verse 5 Paul tells us that Jesus came to "redeem those who were under the law," and as a result, when we choose to receive Christ as our Savior, we become an adopted child and heir of God. Thank you, Jesus!

How often do you think about being a child and heir of God? What do those terms mean to you personally? Tami

Being God's child is a very meaningful reality to me.

My mother and older sister were killed in a car accident when I was 8 years old. The Lord was good to our family, and Dad was married less than a year later to a wonderful lady. She's our mom, and we're her children. There are no step- or half- prefixes. It's as simple and as full as that.

That really is a wonderful picture of how it works in the Kingdom. God has no half-children. He has no step-children. He has sons and daughters.
