Seed of Faith

| | Comments (3)

Today's reading: Luke 17:5-10

Being a plant lover, Jesus talking with the apostles about having faith like a grain of mustard seed immediately made me think of my past flower and vegetable gardens with many big, lush plants (I've attached a couple of photos of my flower beds so you can have a visual of what I'm thinking of). Now I've never grown mustard plants, but every single plant I have grown started out as a tiny seed that, when nurtured, gradually grew into a mature plant.

So what are you doing to grow your "seed" of faith? What about nurturing others and helping them grow their faith? Tami

Your gardens and plants are beautiful!!

Beautiful flowers! It has been a good summer for vegetation!

I find it key that Jesus doesn't directly answer their request for increased faith, and proceeds to speak to the idea of how genuine our faith is and how important obedience is.

Not that faith doesn't or shouldn't take root and grow, but the emphasis seems to be, according to Jesus' words, that the amount of faith isn't as important as its authenticity. Faith will grow gradually as it's genuinely applied in action and obedience.
