Unusual Arrival

Today's reading: Luke 2:8-21

Joseph and an extremely pregnant Mary travel to Bethlehem in response to a census being imposed by Caesar Augustus. "And while they were there, the time came for her to give birth. And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn" (vs. 6-7). Definitely not what you'd expect for the Son of God.

What does how Jesus came to earth and the circumstances surrounding his birth reveal about God--His character, His love, His desire for relationship with us? Tami

I think it shows his love for all mankind with His humble birth in a manger that Jesus was sent for all of us. It helps us to understand we all have access to God and He wants nothing more than a personal relationship with each of us.

God's son came to earth in such a humble way. He didn't come as the king that He is but lived as we do from a baby to an adult, struggling thru the same muck and mire we do. This way He could say "I know your trails, my child. I suffered too." He has yet to demand what is rightfully His till the day "every knee shall bow, every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord."

So we would better know Him.

The way that Jesus came to Earth puts God's desire to restore relationship with His people on full display.

God can do anything!!! This story proves that nothing is too big (or too small) for Him. He can and will use even the smallest or weakest person/situation for his glory! As long as we abide by Him and follow his will, we can help his plan come true.
