Hello Samson

Today's reading: Judges 14:1-20

Today we get our first look at Samson. He's an adult, but he certainly isn't behaving very maturely. Some of the words that came to my mind as I read were: self-centered, arrogant, disrespectful, hot-tempered. Even so, God chose Samson to be Israel's next judge, and it's clear that God was working His plan through Samson.

What does Judges 14 show us about how God operates and who God uses? Tami

"If you had not plowed with my heifer, you would not have found out my riddle." God used a man driven by lust to do His will. He used Pharaoh who was no believer.

Sampson's lust undid him.

Many "Christians" today are driven by their lust.

Grace and Peace, until Judgment Day

God can use anyone to accomplish His will, and He can work through any situation. Samson clearly violated the Jewish law on multiple occasions in this chapter, and as he's dead-set on doing it his way, God lets him go ahead and do what he's going to do. But, when Samson sees the mess that his incorrect choices result in, God uses it to put him to work against the Philistines.

Let us be encouraged by the fact that if God didn't give up on Samson, and continually sought to cleanse and use him to accomplish His will--faults and all--He's faithful to do the same for us.

God can and will operate on anyone. That's what makes it so great! He will take a sinner, the weak, the unknown, anyone and use them to show His glory. How much greater is it to see God's work done through someone who can't do it on their own than to see it from a very powerful and successful person? We are more inclined to believe in God if we see the impossible done through someone incapable of doing it on their own.

God uses people who accept him and are willing to be used by him. Are you willing?
