Honest Conversation

Today's reading: Psalm 143

David is so real, so genuine with God. I love how he speaks openly and honestly with Him. David pours out his heart to God but he also recognizes God for being God and asks Him for instruction and direction.

So what does the way David talks with God show you about his relationship with God? How did Psalm 143 speak to you about your relationship with God? Tami

David's conversation with God is a reminder that we, too, can come before Him and speak openly and honestly. We can't tell God anything that's going to shock Him or catch Him off guard, and He cares about the things which concern us, so we can speak to Him freely. I'm thankful that I'm able to do so.

I agree its a reminder that our relationship with god is a personal one. There is nothing we can do or say to catch Him off guard, and I love the way David pours his soul out to God in this Psalm. Praise God

David speaks to God with a humble voice, knowing that God is the creator of all things, superior in every way, yet loving enough to listen to every word that David speaks. David doesn't always know God's motives, but there is a strong trust relationship that has clearly been established since David was a young child.

Psalm 143 speaks to me personally with the assurance that God loves me enough to listen to my every word, even when I've sinned or proven myself unworthy. I often feel unworthy to speak to God because of my inability to always follow God's guidance. Psalms 143 demonstrates that God has a listening ear regardless of the state of affairs a man is in.

I loved the end of this Psalm. In the beginning David is asking things of God and the last verse he puts God's acts into the future tense. He will do what He has promised. He knows God will save him and we know God will save us and in fact already has.
