More than History

Psalm 132

Psalm 132 is filled with details about a time in history when things operated very differently than in the present. Even so, there's still plenty we can learn from this psalm that is useful to us today. I found that when I kind of stepped back and took a more "big picture" approach, there was really quite a bit here for me to consider. For example, the references to David's words and actions provided a good illustration of living vibrantly for God.

So here are a couple other "big picture" things to consider: What does Psalm 132 show you about the importance of praising and worshipping God? What does it reveal to you about God's character? Tami

Another important "big picture" thing to consider in this Psalm is how clearly it points to Jesus. God's promise to David wasn't just for his blessing, but for the blessing of all people through Him.

When we consider that everything Good did--every act of mercy and forgiveness and blessing and even discipline toward that lineage, before and after David--was not only consistent with His character, but also was done with the express purpose of being about Jesus' arrival exactly as intended, it brings a whole new realization to us as we read.
