Slaves of God

| | Comments (3)

Romans 3:23-26; 5:6-9; 6:20-23

Our passages today are all about salvation (and great to use for witnessing, by the way). Each one plainly lays out that we are all sinners but that Christ died for our sins so that we might have the free gift of eternal life (Thank you, Lord!). Now when we get to Romans 6: 20-23, Paul talks about our being "slaves of God." Definitely something worth thinking about.

So what does being a slave of God mean for you? What does it look like in your life? What would you like it to look like? Tami

Slave of God - His authority over us is absolute. Christ changes our hearts so that we love doing what He gives us to do.

As Martin Luther said in his wonderful little treatise called "The Freedom of a Christian":

A Christian is a perfectly free lord of all, subject to none. A Christian is a perfectly dutiful servant of all, subject to all.

The key to that paradox is God. Freed by God from slavery to all human institutions; and sent by God freely and submissively into those institutions—for His sake!

Sin kept us in its slavery by force. Out of gratitude for His setting us free from that, we willingly submit ourselves to Christ and His service.

I agree with a amen to the previous but add. That our slavery is no slavery without reward. Although some want to make our freedom to be God's slave their oppertunity to benefit from it. Never the less what people do. The slave of God rise like an eagle above such. Through inner or outward praise and thanksgiving and worship. Seeing every oppertunity with eagle view. With speed not under standable, to those who are not slaves to God yet. For God never treed his slaves like slaves but as sons and daughters. They are treeted as dearly beloved. That make slaves of God willing to lay down their lives as a living sacrifices, knowing what reward is coming.
