1 Kings 18:17-22

After being in hiding for three years, Elijah and Ahab once again meet face to face. Right off Ahab blames Elijah for the complete drought that has ravaged the country. Elijah stands his ground and immediately points out the real problem--that Ahab and the people had fallen away from God and were following Baal and Asherah. When we reach verses 20-21, Elijah calls out the people of Israel and challenges them to fully follow God. "If the Lord is God, follow him; but if Baal, then follow him."

How would you describe fully following God? How do you guard against letting other gods (money, popularity, position, possessions) pull your eyes off God? Tami

Total surrender of our wills to His in each situation we face in life. A wise old believer once told me [good advise, that often comes to mind], "Yield yourself to God each day" Elijah is a great example for us of yielded-ness!

Dully following God means allowing Him complete control of our lives and giving Him top priority. As we daily seek to draw closer to Him and recognize and give thanks for the blessings He provides, we're better able to keep those blessings from taking priority over the One who provides them.
