Growth Process

Mark 8:34-38

All week we've been considering following Jesus so today we're taking another look at Mark 8:34-38.

I made the decision to follow Christ when I was 8 years old. And that commitment to Christ has impacted my life every day since. One of the realizations I didn't fully grasp until a little later in life is that following Jesus is a lifestyle. A lot of things changed when I finally understood that Jesus truly has to be my way of life.

How has your relationship with the Lord grown and changed since you made the decision to follow Christ? How does following Jesus impact your lifestyle? Tami

Following the Lord has given me much more meaning and purpose to life. Before following Christ and following after the world, questions like "why am I here?", "what's the purpose of my life?"...etc. would constantly nag at me. But when I came to Christ & started following Him - everything fell into place and every question was answered!

To sum it up; Following Him has given me fulfilment, meaning, and purpose (something this sinful world could never give)

I've learned the Truth.
you can love those in the world, but being a friend to the world is enmity with Christ.

Grace and Peace, until Judgment Day

Hi Tami,
Can you explain what you mean by "Jesus has to be my way of life"? Thank you and have a splendid day.

Since deciding to follow Jesus, my life has taken more twists and turns than you can imagine. Highs, lows, ups, downs, victories, tragedies. Through everything, if I had to put all the lessons learned into a nutshell, they'd be summed up in these statements:

1) The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in love and faithfulness.

2) His grace is sufficient for me, for His power is made perfect in my weakness.

3) I can't even walk without Him holding my hand.

I've been a Christian since before I can remember. I have not always put Jesus first, but now I can totally relate to "Jesus is my way of life". Relying on the Holy Spirit to guide my thoughts, actions, and especially speech has filled me with joy. Sometimes my old self still wants to 'bark back' at people and blame others for my problems or inconvenience. But now before I fall prey to my old self I thank God for His mercy and grace and keep my mouth shut until He can show me how I should react. I especially like 'take every thought captive'. If we refuse to think wrongly, we will not act wrongly. Peace and joy await those who follow the Lord.

Naomi,

You asked what I meant when I wrote "Jesus has to be my way of life." As a Christ-follower, my goal should be to imitate Jesus. So it was a way of saying that I need to be intentionally modeling Christ with my thoughts, my decisions and my actions. In other words, all parts of my life should reflect Christ. Hope that's helpful. Thanks for the question and being part of P4 with me. Tami
