Pure Children

| | Comments (6)

1 John 3:1-3

A couple of big things to consider in our three short verses today. First, the whole concept of being a child of God right now and in the future. And, second, as a child of God, keeping ourselves pure because God is absolutely 100% pure.

So what does it mean to you to be a child of God right now, in the present? How does being a child of God motivate you to be and stay pure? And lastly, what are some things you do that help you stay pure? Tami

I think it says we have to be like God not follow the ways of the world to be a friend of the world is an enemy of God. My motivation is He shows me through His word what I should be striving for and by staying in His word helps me to focus on those things.

I find encouragement in the idea that it is the hope (faith) in Christ which purifies me (v. 3), as I have no ability to purify myself. So it is not about cleaning myself up enough to qualify to be His child, it is the blood of Jesus Christ which cleanses my heart and mind (1 John 1:9)

We are God's children. He loves us perfectly. We are not perfect, but are made perfect in His sight through our Lord Jesus Christ. Now and forever!

The opening words "children of God" evokes a lot of emotions in me (ranging from humility to responsibility, and many more in-between!)

Another mind blowing verse is Ephesians 1:6 "To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved" We are "accepted in the Beloved" !

This side of heaven, I don't think we fully understand these. But what we do know now and grasp is enough to propel us onward!!

Spiritually every human being is a child of God, this is the truth of who we are, this is why the bible states, that we were born in God's image as Spirit, Mind and Body. God is our inner source, the very essence of our being, without which we cannot be alive on this earth.

The pure is spiritually, when we grow spiritually, and become born again, by spirit (GOD) and water, not by man. We cannot be anything but pure, we do not have to worry about being pure, we are pure.

Again all of these talking points do not really matter, when we become one with God, it is then that a "christ consciousness" awakens within us and we live like christ, as we were preparing for during our journey. Jesus said that we will be able to do greater things than He did.

Being a child of God speaks to the wonderful truth that, as we've expressed faith in Him and allowed Him to forgive our sin, He has adopted us as His children and heirs, with all the rights and privileges that come along with that.

Far from an end, though, that's only the beginning. Such great love is what motivates us to seek His face and flee from sin, and to allow His spirit to further cleanse us of the nature of sin, so that we will continually grow in holiness and purity throughout our lives.
