Only Faith

Galatians 5:1-6

Paul hits, once again, keeping the law versus having faith in Jesus Christ in Galatians 5:1-6. I found his words in verse 6 powerful. They seemed to jump off the page at me. "For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision or uncircumcision counts for anything, but only faith working through love."

Based on all the passages we've read this week dealing with faith and works, how would you explain to someone their need for faith in Christ? What would you tell them about works? Tami

As the Apostle tells us in Gal 3:24,25 "Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster"

The Law shows us not only God's perfect standard, but also our own vileness - pointing us to our need for salvation through Jesus Christ. God provided all we need to stand justified before Him!

I think a very succinct, accurate explanation comes back to Ephesians 2:8-10. We're saved by grace, though an expression of faith in Christ. Rather than works saving us, works are the response to Him--that which we've been saved to do, and which we're able to do properly in His strength once we have a relationship with Him.

I think John 3:16 and John 13:34 sum it up very nicely, "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever beliveth in Him should not perish but have everylasting life"

"A new commandment I give unto you, that ye love one another as I have loved you, hat ye also love one to another"

Love is key- because if we love God with all our heart and all our sould and all our strength and love our neighbours as ourselves then we will have faith in God, believe Him, have hope in Christ's return and do good works because faith without works is not going to work. God gives us the choices seek good or evil and even though He has given us choices He does not wish to lose anyone so think about it. To me He is offering the Best - life eternal than eternal fiery death. May we chood Him instead.
