God of My Life

Psalm 42:1-11

Life isn't going along smoothly for the psalmist in Psalm 42. He talks about his tears and how people are taunting him about following God. Quite clearly he is downhearted and in turmoil. But did you notice the words of verse 8? "By day the LORD commands his steadfast love, and at night his song is with me, a prayer to the God of my life." I love that verse and particularly how the psalmist recognizes the personal nature of his relationship with God when he says "God of my life." And really, we see that throughout Psalm 42 with the way the psalmist tells God exactly what's on his heart.

What does God being "the god of my life" mean for you? Are you approaching and talking with God like the psalmist? Tami

Indeed God is the God of my life, and that reassures me that He knows about and is interested in everything that is going on in my life (both the good things and the things that could be much better). When I think that I'm being left behind or not achieving the blessings that I see others achieving, I am reminded from Jer. 29:11 that God has plans that are specifically for me. Also, in Is 61:7 there's the promise of not just blessing, but double blessing. Hallelujah!!

He has to be our motivation for living. He's should be the reason we awake each day!, to glorify and live for Him! to serve Him! .... and to grow in His grace! (just to name a few)

what it means to me is that God is involved in all i do and say and that others are able to see his presence in my life.I know i dont approach it like the psalmist but for me its also a work in progress.

Another aspect of this is that, in his honesty and openness with God, the psalmist realizes that God cares about those things we care about. The same holds true for us today. If it's important to us, it's important to Him, because He loves us and wants His best for us.

Yes, and even though sometimes it doesn't "feel" that way, I know He is. As Job said, I know that my redeemer lives.
