God is Love

1 John 4:7-21

Being a Christ-follower = LOVE. That was the big message that hit me as I read 1 John 4:7-21. Verse after verse about God's love for us and us then delivering that love to others. The two key verses for me were 9: "In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him" and verse 12: "God abides in us and his love is perfected in us."

So what is it you do to thank and recognize God for His love for you? How has, and is, God's love being "perfected" in you? Tami

Ephesians 5:2 comes to mind , "And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour"

Going through each day, walking with, trusting in, and obeying God & letting Him perfect His love in and through me is my duty now that I am His child!!

The best "thank you" I can give to God for His love is to live for Him and display His love to others, as He commands. As I draw closer to Him, He's helping me to be more understanding and empathetic towards the situations life brings others, and instill within me a desire to do what I can to show His love to them.

I like what Brian said about being empathetic towards others. I have to admit that I am not always that way and so I think one of the ways God's love is being perfected in me and one way I try to show the Lord that I love Him is to be nicer to those who annoy me. :)

I love how God puts people in my life that are annoying-just when I think I have this 'love your brother' thing down. The spirit quickly reveals that I have more to be perfected. Praying for those EGR people (extra grace required) really helps me respond to them with the love God wants me to show them. By praying for them, my heart is changed and I really DO love them. Our God is amazing!

"Teachable moments" arise every day, almost moment to moment, as I continue in my effort to raise my two teenage grandsons. I blew an opportunity to show God's love yesterday, when I allowed my feelings to get hurt and in communicating that fact to the people involved, caused more hurt. I should have gone to God before opening my mouth and allowed him to work it all out. He did in the end...I did apologize and did learn a very big lesson..to wait and consult with Him before saying anything.
