Genesis 2:7

Our significance to God is what we're exploring this week on P4 (and Back to the Bible radio) and there's a lot for us to learn from the first two chapters of Genesis (the creation account). Today I focused on one verse, Genesis 2:7, "Then the LORD God formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living creature". I was surprised at just how much there is to consider and learn in this one short verse. Now I could go on for quite a while with my thoughts on verse 7, but I'm not going to do that. Instead, I'll let the verse speak for itself.

So read Genesis 2:7, not just once, but several times, and ask God to show you something different each time. Ok, what did Genesis 2:7 show you about your significance to God, and why? Tami W.

As I read this again just now, it dawned on me that God filled us with His own breath. We are His kids.

I remember this verse from last year. It was commented that God took lowly dirt and with His power made man. My comment was that He made man from the dirt of the earth, making us part of and responsible for the care of the earth.

"Formed."

So much difference with that one word.

In every other instance, it was "let there be." When it came time for man, it was "let us make."

God got His hands dirty, so to speak, in creating mankind. He formed us, personally.

This verse brought to my mind Luke 19:40 "And he (Jesus) answered and said unto them, I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out.

The Lord made man (dust) to praise Him in today's verse!
