One Spirit

Acts 1:4-5; 1 Corinthians 12:12-14

Paul uses the example of our physical body and how its parts work together to help us understand that all members of the Body of Christ (believers) draw on and function under one Spirit. "For in one Spirit we were baptized into one Body--Jews or Greeks, slaves or free--and all were made to drink of one Spirit" (vs. 13).

So what does this passage show us about the Holy Spirit? What about how we are to function working and serving together? Tami W.

I am confused with the message this morning about the baptism of the Holy Spirit. I can understand what Woodrow Kroll is talking about. What is the differnce between what you are discussing today and speaking in tongues. We have attended a church that this is happening. I thought you need an interpretation of this speaking in tongues. Could you please send me some more information on this issue. i would really appreciate it. Thanks so much. Blessings,Jeanie K.

One of the many wonderful things the Holy Spirit does in our lives is to fuse us together, like a blowtorch welds metal, so that many different pieces form a strong bond as one useful tool in His hands.

Jeanie, thanks for your question. We will be contacting you by email with some thoughts.

Each of us is unique. God did not duplicate us. When we receive His Holy Spirit we are bound to each other because God is in each of us. We are one through Christ Jesus.

Jeanie- My Bible study is just beginning Acts. So far the speaking in tongues refers to different languages that others understood. I know there are other references so it should be an interesting study for you.

I am glad that these verses were shared. I have believed for sometime that all believer's should work together for the sake of Christ. The church today puts to much time on whose doctrine is right and whose is wrong and forget about Jesus, the cross and that we are all brothers and sisters in Christ no matter what our doctrine is. There is one body and many parts. If we cannot agree that salvation is through Jesus Christ alone and stop disagreeing over doctrine and work together than we are no different than any other religion or cult.
