I Want the Power

Romans 8:1-11; John 14:15-17

I don't know if you're like me, but I don't typically sit around thinking about and considering how powerful the Holy Spirit is. But as I read Romans 8:1-11, that's exactly where I landed. For whatever reason, I hadn't noticed before the numerous references to and/or examples of the power of the Holy Spirit in this passage.

• verse 2--the law of the Spirit of life;
• verse 5--living according to the Spirit;
• verse 6--setting our minds on the Spirit;
• verse 9--we are in the Spirit;
• verse 11--the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead.

So now with our attention fully on the Holy Spirit and His power, a couple of questions for us to consider? Am I (are you) drawing on, and taking full advantage of, the power of the Holy Spirit living in us? And if not, what can I/you/we do or change to make that happen so we can live our lives to the fullest? Tami W.

A really good place to start, that is after receiving Christ Jesus as savior is to Stop Grieving The Holy Spirit. All our willful disobedience and intentional sinning is an affront to His Holy Spirit that dwells in us as believers.

Grace and Peace, until Judgment Day

I thought that when the Holy Spirit came to live inside you there would be a complete change in you. You would wake up each morning feeling the holy spirit inside you and you would be ready to go out and take on the world. I wake up each morning much the same as I always did. There is a difference though in how I go about my day. There are times when you get the feeling that you must do something. (go visit, call or text someone, do something that you would never even contimplate doing otherwise, like starting a campus Alpha course or a program to collect good unwanted items that would otherwise go to the dump, and distribute them to people who need them). Feelings that you would formerly ignore. As you learn to act on these promptings of the Holy Spirit and see the ways that God blesses them behond anything you could imagine, you watch for them and become more aware of them and act on them right away. I think the Holy Spirit is like everything about God. He gives you a small portion. Use it and it grows, how big we will never know. Probably we might end up wakeing up each morning feeling the holy spirit inside you and you would be ready to go out and take on the world. Ignore it and ir remains a little spark that God gave you

Nothing is more vital to successful, victorious Christian living in this world than living with the fullness of the Holy Spirit working in your life, allowing Him to have control over all of who you are and will ever be. When we surrender ourselves completely to Him and allow Him do His cleansing, sanctifying work within us, we experience life how it was meant to be lived.
