Nehemiah 9:15-38
A big part of this gathering where the people confessed their sin and worshipped in Nehemiah 9 was a time of looking back and a public recalling of the history between God and the Israelites. And when we get to the end of chapter 9, we see that this approach was good and effective. The people respond by agreeing to obey God. "Because of all this we make a firm covenant in writing; on the sealed document are the names of our princes, our Levites, and our priests" (vs. 38).So how about joining the Israelites today? Take some time to look back and consider your history with God. What did you see, or maybe discover? How can you use your history to grow your relationship with Him moving forward? Tami W.

My history with God includes time of great faith where God dealt mercifully with me, where He seemed to show the way I should go with fire, and He answered prayer requests quickly. Then there were times of doubt, where I questioned God's goodness and even His love. There were times of loneliness and struggle, where I found it easier to embrace the world rather than pray. I can use my own history to see that God is there always, even when He seems to be away, and that I need to just cry to Him in prayer and thanksgiving. My salvation is based upon the rock of Jesus Christ and I aught always to rejoice in Him, the God of salvation. My history demonstrates His goodness, shows my weakness with unfaithfulness, but indicates that God is always faithful. His mercies are new each morning.
I know just like the Israelites I have turned my back on God and it seems to be through the good times in life. And just like here God has always been there for me I need to learn to stay 100% focused on God at all times.I praise God for all he has done in my life .
This passage truly encouraged me today. Gods mercies are unfailing and his love for us is never ending. As I went back and remembered all that he brought me through, I am amazed and grateful. He is my great, awesome and mighty Father!
The history of the Israelites is similar to mine and I pray that his time I will stay close to God forever.
I see that people remember God when they are under great distress. Things haven't changed in 2000+ years. Church attendance is high after disasters (hurricanes, tornadoes, 911, etc.)but drops when we think we are in control of our lives again. People in this country only think they know what distress is. The coming days are going to be a real eye opener. The wise will understand; the others will fall for the deceit. Be honest with yourself. Will you trust God no matter what happens, or will you follow a false savior in order to save yourself and your family on this earth?
I see myself in this, praying when I am in trouble, sinning when I am not. It is a wonder God puts up with me. I pray that I can speak to God an follow his commandments and directions all of the time.
I could fill this screen with my own thoughts about my past and my history with God. Mine has been a full existence in a very short number of years.
In the interest of brevity, I'll answer this way: Looking back on my life with God, I find that, through whatever life can find to throw my way, He has proven to me that He never fails, that He's always faithful, even when my faithfulness waivers or fails, and that He can take the greatest of tragedies and make them into the greatest of blessings.
Looking at what God has done for me in the past gives me the confidence that no matter what the future holds, I can be more than a conqueror through Him who loves me, the One who holds the future.
