Worship God!

Deuteronomy 4:15-31

Moses is speaking to the Israelites in Deuteronomy 4:15-31 and warning them about falling away from God and worshipping things other than God. Now this is life-impacting, critical information so Moses doesn't sugar coat anything. He is forthright, and very assertively lays out the destruction that will happen to them if they break their covenant with God. But Moses doesn't just play the heavy. He also talks about turning back to God with these words: "For the Lord your God is a merciful God; he will not leave you or destroy you or forget the covenant with your fathers that he swore to them" (vs. 31).

So how do you keep your worship focused on God? What are some things that pull you away? How has God been a merciful God to you in those times when you have fallen away and returned?

Anita, I left a comment for you, on Every Step devotion.

It is easy to fall into the trap of worshipping the material, we are bombarded from the time of youth to worship big houses, fancy cars, and the sort, and we have turned actors and musicians into idols themselves. I try and look at what is really important in my life, and that is what I try to focus on. Everyone fixates on money, but really, after I learned to deal with some economic hard times, I realize how life really is sweet, and you don't need the things you thought you did. If you submit to the Lord, you will get exactly what you need. The Lord has seen me fall by the wayside, but has welcomed me back into the round pen when I came and asked forgiveness. Once you are of the Lord, no body can take that away from you. The salvation of Jesus Christ is the one great true gift that you can be blessed with.

Thanks David! You said it very well.

A timely passage that brews conviction and hope. Thanks for pointing the way to it, P4.

Kebb, will certainly pray for you. Jesus is in the business of breaking bonds, and as the above passage says,"you will find him if you seek him with all your heart and with all your soul." (NIV)

And David, you summed it up so very well. Thank you :)

Worshipping God is a privilege and a pleasure! I try not to take it for granted, because he has had mercy on my soul continouosly! I try to stay focus on God in praying all the time and staying in His word; putting Jesus first with my tithe, time and talents for His Glory and Honor!

I also agree with David about the material stuff. Sometimes, I find myself wishing I could be part of a group who really covenant to seek and live out a lifestyle consistent with a healthy and committed Christian worldview. I do meet such people from time to time and feel a real kinship with them.

Staying in His Word and knowing who He is the greatest way to see Him all day long. And When we draw close to Him, OH WOW He draws close to us.
Kebb, The Word is Alive and Active. Find scripture that will speak Gods promises to you. And say this out loud when you are feeling attacked. 1John 4:4 He who is in me is greater than he who is in the world. Im praying for you! Ann

Kebb, I will be praying for you.

Thank God for His mercy. Sometimes I keep falling back to my old ways and I thank God that through His mercy I able to stand again and walk the faith walk again. Thank you Lord for your mercy.

Hi,thank you all for the support.I wil kip Gods words alive in my life.
