Psalm 132:1-18
Psalm 132 is filled with details about a time in history when things operated very differently than in the present. Even so, there's still plenty we can learn from this Psalm that is useful to us today. I found that when I kind of stepped back and took a more "big picture" approach, there was really quite a bit here for me to consider. For example, the references to David's words and actions provided a good illustration of living vibrantly for God.
So here are a couple other "big picture" things to consider: What does Psalm 132 show you about the importance of praising and worshipping God? What does it reveal to you about God's character? Tami W.

Verses 3-5 speak to me about continuing to witness to the lost. Not to get lazy just because I know I am saved. We are God's servants and all we do should bless Him. It encourages me to work for His glory, not my own. Henry Blackaby writes "How can we be lackadaisical when God's activity is all around us? Can we stop laboring when our own goals have been met, but God's kingdom has not yet come in its fullness?"
What I got from it was to put God first in foremost in your life, and he will take care of the rest.Kind of a short answer, but that it was struck me. Today, I was looking over finances for the rest of the month, and still have a part I have buy to fix my car, so the budget is stretched a little tight. But with faith in God, I realized that he will take care of my needs for the rest of the month. My main social activity every week is going to church, so that really helps me stay focused on the Lord. Having a wife that is a believer and is strong in the faith is what has really helped us weather storms, and every time things seem dire, we always pull through. I realize that it is the Lord's intervention that always pulls us up.
What I got from it was exactly what David got: put God first. King David said he would allow no sleep to his eyes, no comfort from his bed and no rest for his eyelids till he found a place for God. I think he was talking about the temple here, but I saw it as letting nothing for yourself be done until you have at least met with the Lord. I once heard of a guy who would not even eat breakfast till he had his quiet time.
My day is so much better when I spend time with the Lord.
Days with out putting God first in my day becomes a mess. It is always worth the time spent with the Lord. God is amazing!!
