1 John 4:7-21
Being a Christ-follower = LOVE. That was the big message that hit me as I read 1 John 4:7-21. Verse after verse about God's love for us and us then delivering that love to others. The two key verses for me were 9: "In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him." And verse 12: "God abides in us and his love is perfected in us."
So what is it you do to thank and recognize God for His love for you? How has, and is, God's love being "perfected" in you? Tami W.
P.S. I can't begin to tell you how valuable your financial support is to all of the ministries of Back to the Bible, including P4. So would you consider a year-end gift? (See links below.) Any amount will help us stay healthy and available to you and others in 2012. Thanks in advance for your gift, and God's blessing for your new year!

I thank God daily in prayer for giving me love and bestowing it to others through me. God perfects love in me daily as I seek Him. The hard part of loving others can be mitigated through asking God to love through me.
I appreciated this part, "There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear." It reminded me that if I can allow myself to be fully loved that I will have no fear (or doubt) because I will be safe knowing that I am doing His will. I am still learning to feel fully loved and working on creating a closer relationship with my Heavenly Father. I thank this forum for allowing this daily reminder of what is really important in my life.
After many many years of believing and church going I have finally only in the past few days begun to enter rest by accepting personally that eternal life through faith in Christ is assured for me but that the power of the Holy Spirit is something that I have to choose to use to fight or kill off the old man. Romans 7 & 8. What a relief after all the struggles over many many years. It's a simple concept but it's taken a long time for me to to finally take possesion of it. It's also still a struggle but a sort of happy struggle. And it's only baby steps yet because there's bound to be other things coming up. I see that process as God's love being perfected in us (me).

What is do is try to walk in obedience to God. He said if you love Him, you would keep His commandments, so that's what I try to do not in my own strength, but that of the Holy Spirit.
God's love is being perfected in me when I love Him and others. His Spirit works within me when I struggle with difficult people, and helps me to show them love - genuine love.
