Proverbs 3:5-6; 1 Corinthians 1:18-21

I'm not a huge lover of Proverbs (yes, I know I'm in the minority), but I do love Proverbs 3:5-6. Talk about two powerful and foundational verses. So as I read them today, I broke them down phrase by phrase/thought by thought and did a little self-analysis. This was a good approach because it got me thinking about and considering my walk with the Lord and how I go about living my life.

I thought you might like to see what I did and work through some of it yourself. You might even think of other questions that you want to consider too. I hope you find this as meaningful as I did. When you get done, would you shoot me a comment or two about your experience? Thanks. Tami W.

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart..."
Consider: Does this describe me? Why or why not? What does trusting with all my heart really look like?

"Do not lean on your own understanding"
Consider: How often do I stumble in this area? Why? How do I fix my tendency to look to me instead of God in my decisions?

"In all your ways acknowledge Him"
Consider: How do I acknowledge God, both publically and privately? How can I improve?

"And He will make straight you paths."
Consider: How has God and His Word kept me on course in the past?

P.S. I'd love for everyone to listen to today's Back to the Bible program as we're talking all about our new online discipleship tool goTandem. Check it out and let me know what you think on the blog or on our Facebook page.

Prov 3:5-6 jumped out @ me today as we wait for my child's diagnosis of biopsy. the first thing I wanted to do is do research and learn all about what possibly it could be, instead of yielding to God's plan. I need to work really hard on not trying to fix and do everything. thanks so much for your insight on this verse and I have written it in my notebook that I carry everywhere!

What a wonderful proverb. The Lord has promised to take care of us if we will trust his will over ours. This is something that I have been praying for, to trust the Lord more. It has been so wonderful and I pray for more trust. I am also thankful that I don't have to trust myself, because I would always be lead astray!

I remember when I was going through a particularly difficult time (divorce)and those very words came to me, clearly. I was not even aware they were Biblical words. The pain was too much for me to bear. I did not understand them; however, they have never left me. (This was about 19 years ago!) The ones which I fought with were "acknowledge Him and He will direct your path". I asked myself repeatedly 'what does 'acknowledge' mean? I have had a tendency to try and direct my own life. Now, I am learning daily what it means to "acknowledge the Lord" and having Him direct my path. Tami, P4 has been a souce of learning and strength. Thank you.

Profound scriptures! I'll say in Jesus' strength I can do the above (Phil. 4:13). In my strength I wouldn't make it, that's why I have to trust HIM with my whole heart (my natural heart is wicked beyond measures). I have to acknowledge HIM daily in Worship & Praise, that way I won't lean to my own ( I do the best I can) understanding, especially in spiritual matters that affect my daily decisions & dealing with others in & about my waking life.
