2 Timothy 3:12-17
For me, one of the most important passages in the Bible is 2 Timothy 3:16-17. It leaves no room for doubt that the Bible is God's Word to us (to me), and that we should be using and drawing upon His Word as we live the Christian life. "All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work."
Read 2 Timothy 3:16-17 again--maybe even a couple more times. What are your thoughts on the trustworthiness of the Bible? What do these verses show you about the relevance, practicality and usefulness of the Bible for you today? What about the importance of regularly being in God's Word? Tami W.

I think 16 &17 are helpful as a reminder. But I also think the other ones 12-15 are a good reminder to us also. A reminder that we will suffer persecution, and the evil and impostors will get worse. Which is happening on a daily bases it seams. 14 is a good encouragement to just continue.
The Bible teaches us to love, be good, to walk uprightly, to believe and trust The Word just to name a few - why then would I not trust the Word of God. If all the people in the world love God and our neighbours as we love ourselves this world would be a prosperous world but sin came into the world. Jesus came on earth to cleanse us from all sins. He gave His life for us. If we believe in Him we can have life everlasting. For us to know this and truly believe we have to read and study His Word and allow the Holy Spirit to work in us.
God is a faithful God who has never ever forsaken us. Let us therefore today and forever glorify His name, praise and thank Him and take up our cross and follow Him. Let us obey Him. He would never lie to us. He is truly AWESOME when we get to know Him.
I like the way verse 16 reads in the New Living Translation (NLT):
All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.
2 Timothy 3:16
Right now, as someone struggling with real, genuine true repentence, being reminded that the Bible can show me what's wrong in my life is important. I'd rather hear what's wrong in my life from God, Himself, than people around me with their flawed, skewed judgements. Plus, I am reminded, through God's word, of His ever-present grace for me as well! Amen!
I am so glad for this reminder in verse 12. Most of the teachings I hear from some preachers about Life In Christ depicts a persecutuion-, sorrow- free expeience. This tend to bring self condemnation to me(and of course, to some other Christians). We are told that when things ain't going on well in our lives, we are living in sin.
With the constantly evolving laws, politics, war, poverty etc....which changes with society throughout history; having the scriptures as a rock and a foundation we can stand on and trust as our lighthouse is so comforting. Because sometimes we do struggle and fall as we grow and search "the Holy truth", rather then everyone else's own "truth" and judgements..
Alan W. I just want to say your comment TRULY helped me and I agree 100 % I thing I have been so stressed with others judgments of my rights and wrongs it has discouraged me from seeing what GOD says about the situation in HIS word. No one elses word matters. Amen!
I think as much as we hear vv. 16-17, I especially need the sobering reminder of v. 12. While I often catch myself putting stipulations on prayer requests (i.e. help me to be patient, but without giving me things to test my patience), I definitely needed this reminder that I will run into opposition if I seek to live for Christ.
I am grateful that the Word goes on to remind me of the hope that comes from being grounded in the Bible and having an actual relationship with Jesus Christ.
Encouragement to trust the word of God more. I always thought this was a good scripture for nay-Sayers, that God's word was truth. Being a reader of the Bible daily is strength for my journey daily, I can't live a day without it.
Studying God's word is our training book. Helps us to know Christ better. This way we learn to become more like Him. The harder we study the more the Holy Spirit will enlighten the believer.
Being in God's Word regularly can give such peace and offer a sense of direction. Without it, finding balance is just too difficult, like being on a balance beam with no way of keeping from falling off and into the mire of the world, which continually tries to suction us in. I wobble all over the place until I get 'back to the Bible' to see what God wants to show me. It is always so fascinating how God opens our eyes differently each time we read. AMAZING GOD!
As we see this comes from deep within god who seeks to lovingly aid us in our walk, not to seek mans praise but to prepare and inpower us, renew us if you will, for what the master has in store for our lives! even peter was rebuked, yet never abandoned! he feeds us what we need to accomplish wonderful works for his kingdom! praise god!
