Much Heed

Hebrews 2:1-4

My need to hold on tightly to God's Word is what came to mind as I read Hebrews 2:1-4. These verses got me thinking about how easy it is for us to get off course. Now sometimes that change in course is intentional, but all too often it isn't. It just happens little by little (thus the word "drift"). And based on my experience, that kind of gradual drift can be very dangerous.

So what are some things we can do to check and see if we're drifting? And if we are, how do we deal it? What specifically will you do to "pay much closer attention" to God's Word this week? Tami W.

I'm not sure, I have been really struggling the last few weeks. maybe pay closer attention to what I say, and do on a daily bases.

I think this happens to me more than I would like. It's easy to forget to pray and give thanks to the Lord, and ask for his guidance, and just think "well, this isn't that important, no need to bother". God wants us to bring everything to him, not just what we deem to be important. Part of what helps me out is right here on Powered by 4. Reading and thinking about the word early in my day helps me get in the right mindset, and I like to check back throughout the day to see what my brothers and sisters have to say about the subjects. This keeps me on even keel, and helps prevent that drift. Thank you Tami and all my friends here for strengthening me throughout my day!

Tami,

I so agree with the holding on tight. What is a great help to me is your blog and verse here everyday......thanks. I would ask you prayers in this.

I signed up for this blog to make sure that no a day went by without me meditating on the Scriptures. I had originally tought about doing this first thing in the morning, but it doesn't always works like that. My family and I try to always attend church...even in the Sundays we dont have to serve or when we don't feel like going. God has always had a special message for us on those occasions. If I find i am drifting, I repent and ask God for strenght. I ask for wisdom to see the big picture and see what can be one to avoid drifting.

One reason I follow POWER BY 4 is to keep me in the word and learning. It helps to keep me from drifting.

I soo need this reminder right now. Job overload and illness can zap my time and energy in a hurry. I need to keep reminding myself that 'important' needs a time slot moreso than the 'urgent.' For this very reason I signed up for Powered By 4 - thanks for all that Tami, Wood, and the bloggers contribute to help keep me from drifting. God is good.

I have found that setting your mind to it seems to be the best way to keep from drifting. I always remember to pray for thanks before meals especially, because I seem to always wonder if there will be a day when my family and I will not have any food. It seems to remind me no matter what. I always make sure that my cart radio is always set to either a Christian talk radio network(Bott Radio Network), or a Christian music channel. This always keeps my mind on Jesus. Most people seem to think that it would not be interesting, but it is not only entertaining, but I have learned so much. It took me a while to like(know) Christian music, but now, I absolutely love it. I have found that Christian concerts are the most uplifting, faith building events I have ever known. If you haven't tried the music or talk radio thing, you should. It has helped me more than anything else to keep my thoughts on track....
