1 John 1:1-10

Today through Sunday we're going to work our way through 1, 2 and 3 John, one chapter at a time. As I jumped into 1 John 1 today, right away I was struck by all the information we're given about Jesus. So, I found myself going back and re-reading this passage a number of times--very slowly--focusing on Jesus and looking for what this chapter contained to show me more about Him.

So take a few minutes and read this passage again, slowly. What did you see about Jesus? Did you uncover anything new? Tami W.

To me it showed that nothing dark or wrong exists in Jesus, that comes from without. If we say that we don't sin, then that makes us liars, and how can he forgive us and save us if we can't acknowledge our sinful nature. Jesus wasn't about personal pride, and if we want to walk with him, we shouldn't be either. I think the part about fellowship with our brother and sister Christians is brought out to show the importance of spending time with our family in Christ. Our preacher's sermon this Sunday was about "Getting it on you". The Lord knows we have to go out into the world and work, but it's our choice who we hang out with on our free time. If we hang out with good Christian people, then we strengthen ourselves, but if we choose to hang out with people who do wrong things, we get pulled into the the muck, and get the crap on you, so to speak.

I was struck by walking in dark vs. walking in light.Do I have "secrets" that I don't want others to know? It seems that if I do it will affect my relationship with the Lord. If I want light I must fess up.

The description of Jesus summarizes what Jesus said about himself. I was somehow comforted by the passage.
The part that strucks me most though was "YOU ARE A SINNER",therefore "CONFESS YOUR SINS",and "I WILL SAVE/CLEANSE YOU"

Sin tears us apart. Shreds our very soul. Through Jesus if I acknowledge them I will be whole (like new).

This is a good section I John 1:10 to use when witnessing to someone. It tells who Jesus is and how steep in sin we are. But best of all, it shows us that we can be forgiven.

Jesus is Life and Light! I feel bless to walk in his light and I hate darkness. I'm happy to know Jesus forgives me of all my sins I turn over to him daily and the ones in my past. Because of Jesus , I'm a NEW creation in Him!
