Judges 7:16-25
Trumpets, empty jars and torches led to the route of the Midianite and Amalekite armies that were "like locusts in abundance, and their camels were without number, as the sand that is on the seashore in abundance" (Judges 7:12). Pretty impressive and only possible because of God. I love it!
So what does this battle passage show you about God handling your most difficult situations (as well as those day-to-day struggles)? How will you use Judges 7 to strengthen your trust in and reliance upon God? Did this passage encourage you today? Tami W.

I have lots to be thankful for and praise Him for. We can know that God is in control of the mundane thing of life. If Israel could defeat their pesky enemy ober and jeer then so can we. Tell me I'm not the only one with a recurring enemy. Savoir, Lord Jesus in you my victory is already secure. Thank-you for your great work of salvation I can rest in this morning.
It helps to reinforce ones knowledge that God is in control and that he will take care of you if you place your trust in him. My hope is for this to serve as a continual reminder to fully rely upon God and thereby increase my trust that things happen according to his plan and not others.
This goes to show that the battle is not mine it is the Lord's. In Him I must put my trust. When things seem impossible that is when He is at His best. It helps to reassure me that the Lord is in control and He knows best. As man, we cannot understand how He operates but we know that it brings results.
I am encouraged to know that no matter how challenging or difficult the situation may seem to me, with God in control I will definitely come out victorious.
I am struck with the contrast of the Jew crying out to God for mercy and deliverance from their enemies and the means He chose to use. God had the men carrying pitchers and trumpets as a terror to
the enemy. God must have a great sense of humor, He could have used cupcakes and 5 year olds on this huge number of the enemy. Problems unsolved from my point of view, God can use the unusual
and ridiculous and save me; as well as have a good laugh at mere men.
Must trust Gods plan for us as God has shown that living/ fighting in our own strength is futile. Glad to put my trust in Him
Who would have thought that God would rout the enemy with pitchers, torches, trumpets and a small band of fearless warriors? This was a victory won by God with a highly unorthodox battle plan.
It reinforces my knowledge that God will work in unusual ways to help us. My experience has been this: His help comes in the most unforeseeable ways,so I know that although I don't see the solution to my worries He will bring about a remarkable victory, if I obey and have faith.
God is our supreme commander and we are on a "need-to-know" basis. His thoughts are higher than our thoughts and His purposes infinitely more vast than we can comprehend. When He says "Here are your provisions, (trumpets, torches, and pottery) come, follow Me and do as I do", we follow orders. We can trust that the provisions will be sufficient for the victory. These are our provisions: Trumpets---there are 66 of them contained within the covers of your Bible (66 individual books)...Torches---the Holy Spirit that lives within us (Matthew 5:16)...and Pottery (Isaiah 64:8)---the Body of Christ, that is the sum of all who choose to follow Jesus worldwide. That is all we need to claim victory, God does the rest...
P.S. Let's not forget the shouting part of the story, proclaiming God's truth in love (Ephesians 4:14-16).
God directs and gives us the power to 'drive away' our enemies. Listening to His directions takes trust and conversing. Relationship is so crucial. And like Tom D says, the tools have been given to us; we just need to learn how to use them, according to God's directions and provisions.
I have to admit, though, that I find myself reading ahead to remind me what happens next. Thanks for setting up this system to allow for the daily reading and the back and forward arrows, Tami and your computer assistants - very handy!
