To Live

Philippians 1:19-30

To live is Christ is Paul's message in Philippians 1:19-30. "For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. If I am to live in the flesh, that means fruitful labor for me. . ." (vs. 21-22).

So what does "to live is Christ" mean to you? What are some examples of it from your life? Tami W.

To live is Christ (to me) means to live by the word of God and by his example, loving others, and doing what is righteous.

To live in Christ is to surrender all of me to Him. Lord, I am doing my part by asking to direct my every steps. Please do Your will in my life today. Do not let me live my day unless your Master of it.Help me faithful and live by Your grace.

To live is Christ!! What more needs to be said about the true Christian life? People should be able to see Christ alive in all of us as followers. By truth and deed, Jesus is the center and lead of my life. To him all the glory and honor belong. Thank you, Jesus, for coming into my life and guiding me through!

to live in Christ means to let him shine through me, yo surrender my all to him Shine Jesus Shine!

For me, "To live is Christ" means that once you are in Christ your life is no longer about you but it becomes all about Him and everything in and of your life points to Him and His truth. It also reminds me of Colossians 3:3-4: "For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you will also appear with him in glory." (To me, v4 points out that to die is gain.). Examples from life mean that you are surrendering control of your life to Him - be it your time, your thoughts, your finances etc..

Greatest comfort inn the bible is that Jesus is my advocate to the Father. That the Father knows me through HIM. I CAN DO ALL THINGS THROUGH CHRIST WHO STRENGTHENS ME. Keeping HIM at the forefront of my mind.

I made a commitment about four months ago to read my Bible each day, and try to apply it to my life. However, it was often hard for me to understand, even though I prayed to God for his guidance. I believe this blog may be the answer to my prayer! To read the Bible each day and try to apply what it says is, to me, one way in which to live in Christ.

Thank you, God, for leading me here--and for those who respond each day! I am certain that I will be able to grow in Christ by reading/sharing on this blog!

Hi everyone! First off I'd like to say thank you all for your feedback that I actually took as "encouragement". But I must ask that you please give GOD "all" the glory. I felt HIM using me in that mission and I couldn't have done any of what I did w/o HIM. HE was my strength, my shield, my buckler. A high tower into which I ran was safe! It is one way HE got me to trust HIM and later ... to love HIM and want HIM more than anything else in the world! Funny how that sort of dissipates or becomes less as I live and struggle in "this" world. I am so grateful that I found P4 and can get back into HIS Word, by piece-meal again. I wanted so much from HIS Word that I burnt myself out on it (for lack of a better excuse). I am bombarded by the things of this world. I want this and I want that (the little child syndrome). I forgot my first love: Jesus Christ. For me to live is Christ means for me to get out there and do as HE would! Am I not supposed to imitate HIM? (1 Corinthians 11:1). I used to get terrified with that statement. How am I suppose to feed thousands? Heal the lame, blind and deaf? Raise the dead?! Then the Chaplin said GOD sure does work in mysterious ways doesn't HE? Then he told me that until GOD blesses me with such magnificent gifts, why not just be a friend?! That totally floored me! It was so simple: gentleness, kindness, politeness, compassion, caring! Things I never thought about let alone did when I was "lost". I learned that someone who seeming has nothing (by this world's standards) does have something in the way of a smile, a hello, a helping hand, my time. I was lost but now I am found, I was blind but now I see. On the other hand to die is to be (at home) with Christ, amen? You'll be able to find me real easy up there; I'll be the one shouting "HALLELUJAH" the loudest! In my new body!!! Remember: Love conquers all and never fails! And so, I love you all with the love that only GOD can give.

I can relate to Gayle's comment about reading the Bible and feeling as if I wasn't getting anything out of it. Someone related Bible reading to having a meal, you can't necessarily remember what you ate (or read) but you can tell you were fed. In our human relationships, we do not talk all the time but spending time together, things do rub off on us. God is faithful and He says His Word will not return to Him void. Any time/effort spent in God's Word is worthwhile! Feelings are temporary and Satan would have us believe reading the Bible doesn't make a difference. With God's love flowing through us, our motive toward's others is pure and right.

When I was on my way to the office this morning, I had been thinking what "to live is Christ" means to me. I was indeed reminded that everything that I do, is of Christ. To get up and do quiet time is Christ; to go to work and be on time is Christ; to be productive at work is Christ; to be truthful and faithful is Christ; and, the list just goes on. Paul made a good summary of everything - To live is Christ. He is the reason of our living. :) God bless everyone!

To live for Christ means to have an intimate relationship with Him (still working hard on that ;-)
It also means to do His will & to tell others about Him.

For me the verse "...to live is Christ, and to die is gain..." reminds me of another, "...my strength is made perfect in weakness...". Have you ever tried to do what's right only to have it go wrong, or in one of your weakest momments, God use you in a way you didn't expect. I tell people that whenever they see me doing something worthy of praise, that's God, whenever they see me doing something that's not worthy of praise, that's me. Whatever good I do in this earthly vessel, I do in the strenght of Him who called me, I can't take any credit, for I know myself.

To live in Christ is for me to become last to put others first to curb my tongue, most of all to let my light shine in all situations so others may see Christ in me and seek what I have.

this scripture really touched on a point which struck my cords that paul believed in the power of prayer and that is something i should adopt to believe that prayer can certainly change any situation and most importntly i learn that Prayer is not merely an occasional impulse to which we respond when we are in trouble: prayer is a life attitude.

I have such a long way to go. I feel more like a glob of mud or a clod of dirt than a shining star. How do we really let Jesus live His life through us so that we can reflect His light? How do we tap into His power to help us do what is righteous?

"HE" said HE would never leave me or desert me, and all I have to do is: "trust in HIM with all my heart and lean not on to 'my own' understanding and if in all my ways I acknowledge HIM, HE will direct my paths, Amen? Hebrews 11:5 and Proverbs 3:5-6.

Dear Ray,
I think you are on your way. You see we are the clay and GOD is the potter. I let HIM shape and mold me though submission and obedience to HIM. What I mean is I submit to HIM as all Authority, HE knows what is best for me. I obey what HE tells me through HIS word. When I fail HE picks me up, dusts me off and puts me back on the right track again. I think Jesus shines through us when we exhibit the fruit of the spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, gentleness, goodness, kindness, faithfulness and self-control. Or how about just being a friend to the man whose hope is fading? I think righteous/righteousness is for the Pharisees. It comes across anymore (for me) as self-righteous legalism that people use for agruing. I just try to do what GOD says to do by thorough examination of HIS word, which "I" find to be choice chewy morsels. Which leaves me saying: hmmm-hmmm, I want more! Just remember my friend HE said HE'D never leave us nor forsake us! HE is with us even until the end of the world (W0W:-), and HE who started this good work in you will continue it until it is finished! (Hebrews 13:5), (Matthew 28:20), (Philippians 1:16) I leave you with James 5:8 Draw near to GOD and HE will draw near to you and I love you!
