Philippians 1:1-11

Paul is truly an encourager and we see that here in Philippians 1:1-11. As Paul begins his letter to the Christ-followers in Philippi, he immediately tells them how thankful he is for their friendship and partnership in the gospel, and that he is praying for them.

I don't think I've ever met someone who didn't enjoy receiving encouragement. I know I love it...especially when it's not expected. So think about the last time someone gave you some encouragement. How can/will you pass that on to someone else today? Tami W.

P.S. Dr. Kroll is starting a two-week series from Philippians today on Back to the Bible. Why don't you join us for the study?

I needed some encouragement today. This is my 1st day with P4 & am encouraged to start everyday from now on with not only the daily scripture, questions & blog, but the encouragement I will get from it daily - something missing from my life for a very long time. This will help me to have a daily Bible study & to pray everyday. I know that God can & will help me with my daily struggles. Thank you P4 for this opportunity & God Bless You!

I do not remember the last time I've received encouragement from anyone other than the Holy Spirit. In fact I consider verse 6 of the 1st chapter of Philippians to be encouraging. Knowing that no matter how much I fail Jesus is not going to give up on me! Hallelujah!!! That verse alone gives me strength and hope for the day. We may not know what the day holds, but we know who holds the day, amen? Thank you for starting P4. I need it! Good day & GOD bless.

Kenny has a good point about encouragement coming from the Holy Spirit. But the Holy Spirit works through believers, and one of the men at my bible study has been a great encouragement to me. He offered to meet with me and counsel me on some problems I was having. Since he had experienced problems similar to mine in the past, what he had to say really resonated with me. His taking the time to do that was a huge encouragement to me.

I just joined P4 today and didn't get a chance to read my bible verse when I planned to. However, after reading it tonight, it was encouraging and I was very happy to know my spirit was inline with today's verse because I had just given a teacher of one of my children an encouraging praise which she appreciated. Encouragement and kind words are always great to hear. God Bless to all of you.

Great to have you in the P4 family, Karleen! Glad you could share some encouragement too. What a gift it is...to give AND to receive.

For some encouraging comes a little easier than for others...but encouraging others while in prison...WOW! On a personal note...P4 encourages me...every day that I read. The scriptures and the comments make me want to know more of and about God.

Paul's prayer in vs 9-11, seems to be for wisdom. Wisdom which leads to depth of love, knowledge, and discernment. This would be good for everyone to pray for every day.

Jackie, I am so glad you have joined powered By Four.
Powered By Four, really helps me in my walk with Christ because I am able to walk with others that are following Jesus also.

Karleen, I am so happy for you.

Tom and Kenny I agree with you. The Holy Spirit encourages us and through others. It is so awesome how God puts others in our lives to help us. It is so neat, how God uses us through our circumstances to help others. God is so GOOD.

Everyone have a wonderful day.
God Bless.

Welcome to P4 Jackie and Karleen! I find P4 to be an encouragement for me pretty much every day. I'm grateful for the opportunity to learn more about God and His Word with you! So thanks for signing up and your committment to engaging God's Word. Tami W.

Live is christ; die is gain what this means to me is as christians we should at all times try to live an examplery life pleasing to God an also for others to see an adopt this kind of livin. Personally i thank God for Salvation!

I am trying to catch up on P4. I have been having trouble with my computer. I was encouraged by everyone's comments. I was convicted today in my reading by my lack of love for the body of Christ, how I am often critical. The Lord encouraged me through Paul as I saw what my attitude should be. I am praying this for myself and other believers. May the hurricane hitting the northeast draw us all close to Jesus and one another. I want to be an encourager like Paul. You have all encouraged me by your loving comments to one another. God bless you all.
