John 14:15-31
Today we turn to John 14. Jesus is with the disciples and it is just a few hours before he will be arrested. The conversation is heavy. Jesus has told the disciples about his betrayal, Peter's denial and his leaving them to go to the Father (crucifixion). He has also told them a number of different ways that he is the Son of God and the Savior. But then Jesus tells them something new and unexpected--that God would send the Holy Spirit as a Helper to them after He departed.
So as a modern day disciple, what did you learn about the Holy Spirit from Jesus' words in John 14? Tami W.

In keeping Jesus' commands (loving him by obeying His word), He provides another form of himself, the Holy Spirit, to be with us at all times. Our love for Christ will allow the Holy Spirit not only to make Christ real in our lives, but will also allow us to see Christ at work in our lives. As we commit ourselves to the study of the Bible, to prayer and to living out the Word of God, the Holy Spirit will bring bring forth truth and peace.
As a disciple of Christ, I can count on the Holy Spirit to teach me "all things", and to remind me of all things that were taught to me. Through the Holy Spirit I also have peace. In any situation that comes my way, I can count it all joy because of the power of the Holy Spirit. Jesus said in John 16:33 that in the world, trials, tribulations, stresses of life, and frustrations will come, but, in Him I have peace. The Holy Spirit allows me to be of good cheer, for Christ has overcome the world!!
Well Tami,He told us that he loves us but the question remains:Do we love him?He told us that if we love him, we will follow his commandments!Jesus also told us he left with us that regardless of what we go through, we can have his peace. We can say we love God but he wants us to prove it by our actions! We are some peoples only gospel to a lonely cold world! Some people may/might never read a bible but they will "read us"!So lets show them "a walking/talking sermon"whatever we do & whereever we go!Amen?
The holy Spirit is God's agent in the world today operating through us His desciples. He is like a father to us who comforts, guides, keep, strengthens us. Especially in challenging times He will make hisself evedent to us and help us throughout our difficulties. Its a gurantee that He will always be there. That is priceless and gives such hope to believers today.
I have learned that the Holy Spirit lives within me and that as long as I continue to follow the path of our LORD then the Holy Spirit will teach me what I need to know and remind me of things that I have spent enough time on. He will keep me in peace and help me through all that comes to me.
