Acts 2:1-21
Yesterday Jesus promised the coming of the Holy Spirit to the apostles (Acts 1:9-26). In today's reading, Acts 2:1-21, the Holy Spirit comes and "always ready to respond" Peter makes the most of the situation preaching and sharing the Gospel. Now Acts 2:1-21 only gets us through the start of Peter's sermon, and what we see is Peter quoting the Old Testament prophet Joel. But even though it's just the start of Peter's message, there's plenty for us to consider and learn.
So what did you see/learn about salvation and the Holy Spirit from Peter (and Joel)? What does Acts 2:1-21 show us about the Old Testament? Tami W.

Before Pentecost the Holy Spirit's work had been from without, 'the Spirit came upon'. After Pentecost the Spirit's work is from within, 'he indwells'. I especially like verse 21. Whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved; no sacrifices like in the Old Testament because Jesus made the ultimate sacrifice. Thank you Jesus for dying for me.
The Holy Spirit did something extraordinary for the believers, and consequently, for the known world at the time. The giving of the languages caused such an uproar that people from all over the world came to see what the fuss was about. By this I see that it does not matter who I am, as long as the Holy Spirit is involved, He will bring people to God despite me, for God's glory. I just have to wait for Him.
