Joshua 1:1-9

Everyone wants to be successful. Walk into any bookstore or search online and you'll find hundreds of books on the topic, all with a little different take. Well thankfully we don't have to wonder about how to be successful in God's eyes because He tells us in His Word.

We're looking at Joshua 1:1-9 today. Moses has just died and the monumental task of leading the Israelites is now passing to Joshua. Here's what I love about this passage. God tells Joshua that He will not leave him or forsake. But He also tells Joshua that he must follow God's law if he is to be successful and prosper. Simply put, God tells Joshua to stay the course, focused on Him and His law. Joshua is not to veer off the path by turning to the right or the left. Now that's advice we can all take to the bank.

So what do you do that helps you stay focused on and following God's law and instruction? What are some things we can do to improve in this area? Tami W.

The first thought I have about staying focused is communication. When I let other Believers know what is happening with me and ask/listen to replies, that is one way of staying focused. Also communicating with God through prayer to help me stay focused will help. Another thing that helps me is wearing my cross. In daily life, often the remembrance of Jesus' crucifixion for me helps me behave better. I know some people wear the WWJD bracelets and that helps too. Of course staying in the Bible helps, as does church.

I like to keep my focus on all the promises of God. Joshua knew that the promised land was there for the taking according to God's promise. We have many, many promises also that we can experience if we'll just keep on the right path.

Remembering things are not about me.I was put here to serve an awesome God who has a plan for me if I will only follow Him.This is not hard for me to understand,I want and need guidance.Staying in Gods word and being grateful helps me to stay focused.God has already kept me from some pretty bad things, that wouldn't have been the case if I hadn't stopped what I was doing and found His path.

I think the best way to stay focused on God's laws and instructions is to read his word (the bible) daily ,pray and talk with him all the time.Another way is to join a Bible study group like P-4 also church study groups. It helps a lot to talk with other christians.
