Living Example

Ephesians 4:1-4; 2 Timothy 2:15-19

Paul urges the church in Ephesus to walk in a worthy manner for the Lord. He then goes on to lay out and describe what that looks like. Now the fact that Paul issues this challenge and gives us examples is a good indicator to me that this is how Paul is living his life. Plainly put, his talk and walk are in alignment.

So what does walking in a worthy manner look like in your life? Who might you urge to join you in this worthy walk? Tami W.

Paul references a "walk worthy of the calling". Since we have been called by grace I suppose that we should also walk, or live, by grace. The same Spirit who has sealed us for salvation is also active in daily guiding and informing us in how to live each day.

In my life I have made changes, all with God's help. I use to watch things on TV that were not pleasing to God. I had to ask myself, does this line up with scripture? I didn't realize it at the time, the things I exposed myself to. TV, shows us relationships cheating on one another, half dressed people we shouldn't look at. There are shows that put down one another and then you begin to live the worlds way of living. I began to look at my children, and realized the things that I was watching was not matching up with my talk and what I wanted for them. God really opened my eyes. I am so glad now, I don't have those negative things in my head pulling me else where. (Philippians 4:8 Footnotes: What we put into our mind determines what comes out in our words and actions. Examine what you are putting into your mind through television, Internet, books, conversations, movies, and magazines. Replace harmful input with wholesome material. Above all, read God's Word and pray. Ask God to help you focus your mind on what is good and pure. It takes practice, but is CAN be done.) I am so glad for my children also, because I have made a stand, not allowing my children to watch things that are not pleasing to God. I have seen such a difference in their lives!! It is so exciting to be walking the walk with my children. God is so amazing! I am so glad He has used my children to help open my eyes to His ways and Truth. Children are truly a blessing from God. I am so proud of my children! I love them so much!! Thank you God for ALL that you do!

I enjoyed what Tami said about keeping your walk and talk in alignment. This is important because paul said do not let your conversation turn to irreverent babble. I want to not only watch my speech, but make sure that what I say has a point and a purpose. Speech as well as actions that would not be a hinderance to another.

What stood out to me in these scriptures is to love one and other. And to not gossip or babble as it were about this and that. I think that is something most people struggle with. Lord, we come before knowing we are not worthy yet greatful that you still love us anyway. We pray that you will guide us specifically our talk, let it be pure and honorable before you. We pray all this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Amen
