Different Wisdom

1 Corinthians 2:6-16; John 14:23-27

I don't know anyone who would say they didn't want wisdom. But as we see in 1 Corinthians 2:6-16 there's more than one type of wisdom--worldly wisdom and spiritual wisdom. Paul lets us know that only those who have placed their faith in Jesus Christ, and thus have the Holy Spirit dwelling in them, have spiritual wisdom. He then concludes chapter 2 and his words about spiritual wisdom with: "But we have the mind of Christ." How awesome is that???

So what did you learn from Paul today about spiritual wisdom and having the mind of Christ? What can we do to make sure we're taking full advantage of this amazing benefit? Tami W.

It sure is awesome, indeed! Walking in the Spirit is utmost if we are to be strong in the Lord. Having wisdom within from the Spirit is needed on a momment by moment basis. It is there for us if we (I) take advantage of it. Being in a attitude of prayer is a must.
I think I will write "...But I have the mind of Christ. 1 Corinthians 2:16" on an index card to be put on my refrigerator. Actually, for today I will take it in the car to be put on the dash with me to take up to my mothers in Vermont. I am going through a very difficult ordeal with my mother and need much prayer...But I have the mind of Christ to give me wisdom and strenght! Right!

Having God's wisdom is such a precious gift that is meant to bless us and to keep us out of trouble. For me, the key is truly listening to what the Holy Spirit is telling me, even when it is inconvenient or uncomfortable. I think that I miss out on much of what God's wisdom is because I'm too busy or too interested in my own agenda.

From the passage I understand that true wisdom is found in God (and God alone) and is imparted to us ("the spiritual") by the Holy Spirit of God. All truth is resides in God and we have access to this absolute truth by the Spirit "that we might understand the things freely given us by God."

Furthermore, this wisdom is not just given to us for our own benefit or that we might brag or boast but that "we impart this in words not taught by human wisdom but taught by the Spirit, interpreting spiritual truths to those who are spiritual."

I believe that in John 14:23-27, Jesus encourages us to abide in His word (receive and obey it) because it is through the word of God that the Holy Spirit reveals the truth and wisdom of God. Thats why studying the word is so important and why I'm so grateful for a ministry like Powered by 4.

Thank God for Tami and Wood.

I learned that I am smart!LOL I say that because I dropped out of high school at 16 due to drugs and a lack of ambition.I'm now 30 and I do plan to get my GED this summer.I received this want after encouragement from a friend and a drive to serve something more then myself. The earthly wisdom is get a education so you can get a good job, make lots of money and buy things.Only after the Spirits tug in me said you can do all things through Him did I understand that I need to this to honor Him,be a good example to my children and maybe somewhere along the way the Lord will beable use me without this earthly hindrance in the way.Without spiritual wisdom I would still be a druggie & a drop out in this world not a miracle in Gods.

I am so thankful for the help of the Holy Spirit. There is such a difference between, going through life on worldly wisdom vs. spiritual wisdom. I am so thankful for God using the circumstances in my life to open my eyes to Him and His ways. It was all with the help of the Holy Spirit. Godly wisdom, opens our eyes to see the things we could not see with out Gods help. My prayer is for anyone that doesn't know Jesus as their personal Savior, that you Lord will open their eyes to what they are missing. Thank you again Powered By Four.

I understand the importance of walking in the Spirit but its frustrating when talking to someone about God who says its just a bunch of religion because they dont see it the way we do and lately it seems when I want to talk to someone about it who doesnt all that comes out is something that puts that person on edge. Its almost like im just doing it out of my own desire and words. I'm missing something I just dont know what though. Any feedback or help would be awesome, outside perspective is generally an eyeopener. Thanks again for Powered By 4, I just found it today from listening to a station on the itunes radio.

The passage from John 14 reminds me that my mind does not retain what the Spirit wants me to know, and the retaining of spiritual knowledge is enabled by this "helper"....along with peace....the Spirit/Helper brings peace. Two important things I need: an ability to remember lessons from God, and an ability to live in peace. Thank you, Holy Spirit.
