2 Samuel 22:1-25
David is praising the Lord in 2 Samuel 22:1-4. In his song David recognizes the Lord as his God, rock, deliverer, fortress, shield, stronghold, refuge and Savior. As I read these verses I asked myself What words would I use to describe the Lord? So I decided to fill in the blank to "The Lord is my _________."
Here's what I wrote. The Lord is my helper, strength and the one who understands every single unique thing about me and still totally loves me. Thank you, Lord!
Now it's your turn. Fill in the blank to "The Lord is my ______________." Some of your choices might be the same as David's, which is fine, or you may have others. Think about it for a couple of minutes and then write away! Tami W.

The Lord is my EVERYTHING...yes, I know, that is sort of a cop out but as I thought about what to write that is the word that came to mind. When I struggle is when I forget that the Lord is my everything and when I begin to look to other things for satisfaction or comfort or help.
The Lord is my Rock, my Fortress, my High Tower, my salvation He is my God in whom I am well pleased. He is my friend and no matter what I know I can always go to Him and talk to Him. He is my All in All. Thank You Lord Jesus.
The Lord is my shepherd. He keeps me in his protective care.He over looks all my downfalls. He loves me.
The Lord is everything to me. He has saved me from myself. Two of my children have been baptized and know God and I have two others that we are working on. I pray to God that he will do that for me also. He has been good to me even when I didn't know he was there. When I married at 17 how would I know he would be the one? But we are still together that is God not me. The job I got with good pay and benefits to raise our kids and they are good kids. I didn't know how to be a mom, so I know that was him again. Thank you my God
the lord is my saviour, someone i can trust and is more than my love. one of the things that completely blows me away is the absolute and unconditional nature of gods love :D
i dont understand why david is being rewarded at the end of this reading?
The Lord is my everything, too. He took all my sins and yours when he died on the cross. He is my friend, who I can go to and talk about anything. He is my shepard who comes to find me when I stray from the flock.Thank you Lord Jesus,Amen
I am confused about verses 21 and 25 of this passage, in which David speaks of God rewarding him because of his righteousness. David had a much stronger faith than me, one he was willing to display openly, a trait I still struggle to develop. Yet, he was still a sinful person, like me. I do not believe the Bible teaches that God rewards us because we are righteous, but are these verses teaching that he does provide greater protection and rewards to ones like David who have stronger faith? Is so, how is it really possible to increase our faith except to ask God to do it for us? Which comes first, stronger faith (the chicken) or the blessing of stronger faith (the egg)? This is not just an academic question. As I face the most difficult period of challenge in my life, I do worry and wonder if God will carry me through, and what things will look like at the other end of the tunnel. I know I should have less fear, and this causes me to question if I really do have a strong faith. And, when I ask God to increase my faith, the words seem hollow and I can't seem to overcome my fears. Is it because God recognizes the shallowness, the smallness of my faith?
Righteousness and faith go hand in hand, you can't have one with out the other. The Bible kinda does teach that God rewards those who are righteous/faithful.Take Abraham in Genesis, he is the father of nations because of his faith in which he is called a righteous man.I believe the blessing(the egg)Jesus came first. That's the finish line set out before the race started.Faith is just trusting that He's there. You don't know why,you don't really understand who put it there or when you will reach it,it's just there. It's a heart thing way more then a mind thing.Yes God sees our lack of faith and I know in my life life He has put up landmarks to keep me on the track. Some our hard to see but they are there.Remember that this worlds wisdom is not Gods wisdom.God will carry you,you might get beat up on your way through but He will carry you, why?Because He loves you. It's so silly simple that our earthly minds struggle to grasp that but it's just a leap of faith. The more leaps you jump the stronger your faith will get.
Anonymous,
We commend you for your desire to grow in faith and to be more effective for God. Our faith is increased through study of God's Word. Romans 10:17 tells us, "So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." As we read God's Word, we hear of the things God has done for others. This encourages us to see what God wants to accomplish through our lives if we will but yield ourselves to Him. As our knowledge of the Word increases, our faith increases.
Hope that helps.
