2 Timothy 1:1-14
We'll be spending this week in 2 Timothy lining up with Dr. Kroll's brand new radio series titled 2 Timothy: Paul's Encouraging Words. (Join us if you can!) As we start 2 Timothy Paul is giving instructions to Timothy and encouraging him to be bold for the Lord. In verse 8 Paul hits him head on with these words, "Do not be ashamed about the testimony of our Lord. . ." A good challenge for Timothy, and for us today.
So what does being bold for the Lord look like or mean for you? What can/will you do this week to take your boldness for Christ to the next level? Tami W.

I'll take bold to mean "Be On Lookout for Duty." There are opportunities all around us each and every day to be on the lookout for ways to serve God. We cannot be ashamed and we cannot shrink from those duties. We don't have to argue or get angry or put people down, we just have to tell them in our words and in our deeds, that Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. We have to be on the lookout for ways to share the good news of Jesus from the Bible and from what He has done in our own lives. So be BOLD, Be On Lookout for Duty.
Good acronym, ericr!
I take being bold to mean that whatever situation I am in, do not let fear stop me from sharing God's Good News. After all, we are not given a spirit of fear...right?!
Being bold to me, means that when God places in my path something that He wants me to do I must take it up and run with it. Do not question Him and do not fear how I will be able to do it because He always provides the tools for us to carry out that mission. Just thank Him that He chose me and ask Him to be with me all the way.
When He gives us an assignment, He does not want us to botch it up so He will be our guide, give us the write words to fulfil the job.
for me, all the reasons that i may not be bold and why i should be are summed up in v.7: "for God has not given us a spirit of timidity, but of power and love and discipline". i found this verse extremely encouraging :)
can anyone tell me what is meant by the "laying on of my hands" ? thank you!
I have to admit that sometimes I'm afraid to talk to others about God/Jesus ,I am working on this evry day.I pray that the Holy Spirit will make me stonger as I grow in my faith.I will testify for the lord when ever I can.Praise the Lord, amen
That is one of the things I pray for the courage to speak of my God to everyone. I also pray that God would help me with that. It is not easy for me. If I could ask for prayers for me on giving me that courage to not be ashamed to speak up about God. Thank you
Dora,
We'll gladly pray that you would find the courage and boldness you need in sharing your faith. Thanks for sharing. Tami W.
Anna,
The "laying on of hands" took place when the group of church elders (which included the apostle Paul) ordained Timothy as a Spirit-gifted servant of the Lord. Just as ordinations are done today, it is likely that each elder joined the others in placing a hand upon Timothy's head as one or more of the elders prayed for Timothy's future ministry. Timothy was to make sure he kept his commitment to the Lord. This laying on of hands is mentioned in 1 Timothy 4:14, as well as 2 Timothy 1:6.
