1 Kings 2:1-10
From his deathbed, David reminds Solomon of the importance of always following the Lord. He commands Solomon to "Keep the charge of the LORD your God, walking in his ways and keeping His statutes, His commandments, His rules, and His testimonies..." (vs. 2). Good advice for Solomon and also for us today.
So how can we put 1 Kings 2:2 into practice? What will you do to "keep the charge of the LORD your God" this weekend? Tami W.

P4 helps keep the charge by making it easy to stay in the word of God. I truly believe that reading God's word each day and listening to God's voice is the key to this. I have been a pastor for almost 20 years and I can testify to the fact that people who read the Bible regularly are so much more content and wise in their lives. The "Back to the Bible" staff already knows this but if there are those out there who are just starting to read God's word and wondering if it is worth the effort, it truly, truly is. I commend you for beginning. Keep on reading and praying.
I agree with Eric's comment! To add to it I think this is a great example of having someone in your life that will hold you accountable. Staying in the word daily is life changing in and of itself, but being surrounded by others that will encourage you to "keep the charge" is like icing on the cake! I want to encourage others to try to surround themselves with peole that have the same desire to serve Him. It sure has been a blessing to me!!
I also want to thank Power by 4. For two years I struggled trying to figure what I should read in the bible. I could not get myself to sit down every day and read. Now with P4 I am excited to read and get in the word of my Lord. What I don't understand on this reading is why David is telling Solomon to deal with his enemies. Is that not revenge???
I think Keeping the Charge is a lifestyle. It's being in relationship daily with Jesus. It's being in his word and hearing his voice. It's knowing when to talk to others and pray for them. It's going to church, it's praying, it's being in a community of believers that lifts you up, it's reaching out to others in love and not religion. It's being Jesus to others. You may be the only witness to Christ that someone may know.
I thank B.T.T.B for the daily bible teaching that i have benefit so much from, even though i was already reading the word of the Lord and attending Bible study at my church. The charge that David charges his son with then is the same charge that goes for us today nothing change.
I agree with Eric and all of you, thank you p4 for all you do. I know some times i don't comment but you have given me the want to continue each day.the more i read of Gods word, the more i need. thanks again. And i will do all i can to keep the charge of the Lord ,my God,amen
Just reading these comments has been such an encouragement to me! Since starting up with Power by 4, I've been reading the bible and praying every day, it's absolutely fantastic coming to know God through his word. I have the same question as Dora for this passage, I dont really understand why david is telling Solomon to punish Bahurium?
It is not revenge. It is justice. Remember this is God's nation and David is given the authority to exact justice. During David's reign God had brought a famine until David corrected the wrong Saul had done to the Gibeonites. 2 Sam 21:1-14. David had to hand over Saul's relatives to be publicly executed for justice to be made.
